Neurological rehabilitation

Neurological rehabilitation

Neurological rehabilitation aims to obtain an improvement in the quality of life and a restoration of the maximum levels of autonomy possible in patients affected by injuries or diseases of the nervous system, through continuously evolving approaches, stimulating neuro-plasticity and based on an individual rehabilitation.

The specific neurological physiotherapy programs provided by our physiotherapy center concern in particular:

  • central nervous system disorders
  • movement disorders (eg Parkinson's disease, dystonia, tremors, etc.)
  • stroke of an ischemic or hemorrhagic nature
  • degenerative diseases (eg. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis / ALS)
  • demyelinating diseases (eg. Multiple Sclerosis)
  • neuromuscular diseases (eg muscular dystrophies)
  • neuropathies (eg. Guillain BarrĂ© syndrome)
  • neurosurgery operations
  • ataxias
  • epilepsies

From the very first session, our physiotherapists stage the patient's baseline, objectifying it through validated systems, and set up a rehabilitation program with short-medium-long term objectives like:

  • recovery of daily life skills (eg washing, eating independently, dressing, walking, etc.)
  • progressive improvement of motor and sensory deficits
  • restoring balance and limiting the risk of falling
  • development of rehabilitation programs with engaging, playful activities, for resuming the patient's favorite activities
  • pain management in a multidisciplinary team
  • continuous active stimulus to favor neuro-plasticity
  • recovery of motor and cognitive patterns
  • containment and / or compensation of the degenerative aspects of neurological pathologies
  • planning of active social and work reintegration
  • effective involvement of family members / caregivers

In order to achieve these objectives, we use the best technologies within the rehabilitation project, such as the use of the AlterG, which has demonstrated the following benefits:

  • increased weight bearing
  • develop normal gait pattern
  • increase walking speed and stride length
  • improve balance
  • Improve aerobic capacity exercise
  • Strengthen of the lower extremities
  • Improvement of motor learning
  • Perform dual-task exercises

Where indicated by the doctor and / or necessary, neurological physiotherapy is also provided by our center at patient's home.
